If, after graduating from West Virginia University or any other accredited institution, you still find yourself yearning for more technical and engineering skills, then our graduate program is the place you want to be. PNGE Programs at WVU are the only programs of its kind in the State. State-of-the-art laboratories, internationally respected faculty, interaction with the Industry and your own independent research projects provide you with the tools to be successful.

Two programs are available for students: 1) the Master of Science in Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering (M.S. PNGE) and 2) the Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering major under Engineering Interdisciplinary Ph.D. program. Further details of these two programs are located in the link “Programs Offered.” Any student wishing to become a part of the program must first apply for admission.

Before you consider other universities, consider that the graduates of WVU's PNGE program have historically engaged in the following careers: engineering firm consultants, local and national government researchers, nationally recognized professors, and engineer managers in the oil and gas industry. Job placement for the PNGE degree recipients is 100%, with an average starting salary of $79,000 +!
