West Virginia University, College of Engineering and Mineral Resources, Department of Petroleum & Natural Gas Engineering (PNGE) anticipates filling one or may be two Research Associate positions in Petroleum Engineering. A M.S. degree in Petroleum & Natural Gas Engineering is required. The successful applicant will work with researchers in the WVU PNGE Dept. to investigate new and innovative methods for post-sequestration CO2 seepage from geological formations using state-of-the-art Artificial Intelligence and Data Mining technologies. The overall goal of the project is geared towards developing new technology for insitu seepage detection using Smart Field technology in the oilfield such as Permanent Downhole Gauges. This research requires a strong knowledge of reservoir engineering and reservoir simulation and modeling. Furthermore, knowledge of Artificial Intelligence and Data Mining technologies are required. Initial appointment may start as early as December 1, 2009. Responsibilities include research and personnel management. The position is for one year with potential to extend, subject to availability of funds. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications. Evaluation of candidates will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
