Student Projects

The Capstone Design Experience allows our students who are nearing graduation to become involved in an independent project that will combine all their skills, knowledge, and creativity.

The engineering design experience is built upon the fundamental concepts of ethical (or societal) issues in engineering sciences, realistic constraints (ex. economic factors, safety), and basic math and science.

Using actual field data for their design project, students gather materials and participate in activities that are accurate to the industry. The result is that our graduates are more alert, knowledgeable, and prepared to meet the engineering challenges of the future.

Throughout the capstone project, students have the opportunity to submit their work to be critiqued and graded by the assigned professor, so their project can be completed at the end of the semester. At the conclusion, they submit a comprehensive written report for a final grade.

One of the dynamic aspects of the Capstone Design Experience is that students do not only present their projects to faculty and other students; they also make a final presentation of their project to our Department's industry partners and Visiting Committee members.
