Admission to the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources is based on a combination of high school grade-point average (unweighted 4.0 scale) and ACT or SAT scores. The following list summarizes the admission requirements. West Virginia with 2.00 to 2.99

  • SAT Math 520

West Virginia with 3.00 to 4.00

  • ACT Composite 19
  • ACT Math 20

Out of State with 2.25 to 4.00

  • ACT Composite 20

In addition, students must have high school credits for:

  • Four units of English (including grammar, composition, and literature).
  • Three units of social studies (including U.S. history).
  • Three units of college preparatory mathematics (algebra I and II and geometry).
  • Two units of laboratory sciences (including physics, chemistry, biology, or other laboratory courses).
